Minimizing Gluten, Sugar and Dairy Intake

Last night at our Balanced Bodies class, we had an incredible group of open minded and willing participants. We covered protein smoothie making and three things you want to minimize to get to a better state of wellness….

Gluten, Sugar and Dairy

Why these three? In our conversations with our students, and in my clinical observation, I have seen these three things bring on the most challenges.

The bread we are eating today is not what our grandparents grew up on. We are growing a “dwarf wheat” plant in the US. This is a wheat strain with a high amount of gluten. It is much higher then before. This allows for more product to sell and go to market, but it has also caused an incredible amount of digestive issues and weight gain! It eats at the integrity of the gut lining and can cause leaky gut. So sure, a slice of bread looks benign, but if you are having any kind of digestive issues, chronic inflammation (heart disease, arthritis, puffy eyes….) consider reducing if not eliminating it.

Sugar is a refined product. Very refined. It is also a highly acidic food. If you find yourself eating sugar and not able to stop, know that you have a sensitivity to it. Sugar has been linked to a myriad of chronic diseases. It causes weight gain, and inflammation. Sugar is in so many of our packaged products and restaurant ingredients that it is a hard one to eliminate. Consider reducing your intake if not eliminating it completely and then monitor how you feel.

Dairy… where do I begin. Milk is for baby cows. We are the only species that drinks milk from another species. We are the only species that drinks milk past weaning. You don’t think that brings on problems? Our milk supply is heat treated and anything “healthy” or nutritious in our milk is cooked off. I can’t tell you the countless people who have talked to me after letting milk go, and telling me the relief they are feeling. Symptoms that they NEVER would have linked to dairy, are now gone.

If you can’t come to our class, consider getting the Balanced Bodies Book and doing this work on your own time, in your own home. If you don’t do this with us, at least do it some other way. You would be so grateful that you did!

Yours in health,
Ana
