Give Up The Fight – Getting Kids to Eat Healthy

mindful-nutrition-child-eating
Often, I see a client that is begging me for a strategy to get their child to eat vegetables. Their jaws drop when I say, “Give up the fight!”

The dinner table is to be used for loving, not fighting. If the adults are constantly badgering the kids to eat what is on their plate, especially if they don’t like it, how can harmony be created? The child inevitably sees this as a great way to gain control and power.

Give it up parents!!!

Serve whole and nutritious foods. If need be, serve something that is a bit unhealthy but the child will eat (like pasta or something breaded) Start with love, then go from there.
When I eat salads and my vegetables, I tell my child how strong I feel, how clean I feel after and how much I love my food. When we have treats that are upsetting to my system, I will tell my child that what I ate gave me a belly ache or stopped me form being able to focus.

I talk less about “health” and more about the WAY I FEEL.

Try that one on!
