What is UP with the Food We are Feeding Our Kids?

TeenagersLately, I have had a lot of either parents with children and/or teenagers coming in to seek my advice. These kids are coming in with tummy and brain issues way more intense than we have ever seen before.

Growing up, no one had IBS or ADD!!!

So, what is up?! Well, while I can’t predict what every kid coming into me has going on with them, I can say that the food they are eating is not doing them ANY favors.

What’s the difference? The chemicals that are available now and that are being put in foods did not even exist when we were kids. It’s not just the food colorings, it the stuff you think is benign!! It is the wheat, the flour, the colorings, the added “nutrition.” There is so much going into our food that the reality, really, the honest truth, is frightening.

The way to stay safe is to eat produce!!! If you want to do any boxed or bag food, read the labels. Rather than putting your head in the sand, get educated. This matters, it makes a difference. Kids are way more sensitive than adults. Couple that with foods that are intensely filled with chemicals – this is a real problem.

Think I am extreme? Think I am an alarmist? Look in your medicine cabinet. Sure, it is soooo hard to feed our kids real foods. I get it! I am a mom too. But let’s look at that truth rather than deny certain foods are toxic for them.

Let’s look at how to help you create meal plans, “change up” your food, find easy simple recipes and find systems in the kitchen that work for you.

None of this is easy, but to have healthy and robust, drug free kids, this is part of the road. At least consider my rant.

Thanks Ana. Agree with you. Having plenty of healthy snacks — nuts, dried fruits, fresh fruits, different kinds of veggies, really helps. We’ve also started making our own “snack bars.” More work, but worth it!

  2. I couldn’t agree more – we can either put in the time and effort now to keep our kids healthy or end up spending even more time later trying to heal all of their inevitable health problems.
